ACHRIS wins People and Community Award
22 Sep 2011The Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Register Information System (ACHRIS) won the People and Community award at this year's Victorian Spatial Excellence Awards.
The awards recognise the achievements of top online information projects of the Victorian technology industry.
ACHRIS is an online information management system that provides organisations involved in the management of Aboriginal cultural heritage, including Registered Aboriginal Parties, access to the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Register.
This information is vital for the preparation of Cultural Heritage Management Plans and for the protection of Aboriginal cultural heritage in Victoria.
The system has significantly reduced time, effort and cost by providing online 24-hour access to the Register and eradicating duplicated information handling for registrations.
Aboriginal Affairs Victoria would like to thank all staff involved in developing the successful website.
Projects recognized at this premier event have been voted as providing outstanding achievements in their field.
