Innovation Transfer Project

Innovation Transfer places Victorian public servants in community or private sector organisations on agreed projects for between 30 days – 50 days, either part time or a full time subject to negotiation.

For host organisations, this represents a chance to benefit from new thinking or new skills applied to a particular project. For public servants, this is a valuable professional development opportunity to learn from other sectors. Placements will commence in the second half of 2012. If you would like to hear more come to a briefing session. During this session you will hear from past hosts and secondees about their experiences and receive further information about the application and selection process.

Innovation Transfer is a partnership between the Office for the Community Sector (OCS), the Victorian Public Service Continuous Improvement Innovation Network (VPSCIIN), the Innovation Action Plan and the Hargraves Institute.

Pilot and evaluation

In 2010 the OCS and the Department of Premier and Cabinet piloted the highly successful ‘innovation transfer’ to place 10 Victorian public sector staff into NFP community and corporate organisations for a 10 week period.

The pilot program enabled the public servants to work on specific projects at their relative placements and explore how knowledge can be shared and ‘transferred’ between sectors.

Eight NFP community organisations participated in the pilot – the Brotherhood of St Laurence, the Council to Homeless Persons, Hanover Welfare Services, McAuley Community Services for Women, WIRE Women’s Information and VicSport; along with two corporate organisations – Deloitte Digital and Dulux.
