Volunteering projects
The Victorian Government recognises how volunteering in the community can vastly increase social inclusion and participation for our diverse population.
A key challenge to volunteering is to adequately address the increasing gap between the type of volunteering opportunities traditionally available and the ways in which people are able to give their time.
Volunteering and Participation Portal
The Volunteering and Participation Portal is a new website that will offer a central place for people to find an appropriate volunteering opportunity, share their volunteering stories and see videos and case studies of other volunteers to help get ideas.Visit the Portal at www.volunteer.vic.gov.au.
Celebrating Victorian Volunteers
DPCD encourages the local acknowledgment of volunteers, to both demonstrate the community’s great appreciation of volunteers’ efforts and to inspire others to get involved.Victoria’s volunteer force has an impact on almost every aspect of our society, and many organisations, events and services would simply cease to function without committed volunteers who donate their time and energy on a one-off, monthly, weekly or even daily basis.
DPCD’s Certificate of Recognition for Volunteers can be used by local councils and community organisations to acknowledge the work of local volunteers. These certificates can be presented as required to all volunteers in recognition of their service, and may be presented on International Volunteer Day, during National Volunteer Week, at annual general meetings or at end of year functions. The name of the recipient and the relevant organisation can be typed or written on the certificate by the donor organisation.
