Community Support Grants - Case Studies

The Community Support Grants (CSG) program aims to build stronger, more active and inclusive neighbourhoods and communities. The following Case Studies are examples of how some communities, have implemented key initiatives in their communities.

Community Engagement impacts Baw Baw Shire 

In 2005, Baw Baw Shire Council recognised the need to significantly change the way it engaged with its smaller communities. Today, as a consequence of a successful community engagement strategy, more than 60 per cent of the Shire’s townships are implementing their own community plans.

Community garden in Ballarat provides a foundation for the future 

In 2006, the volunteer Steering Committee for the Ballarat Community Garden recognised that if the Garden was to continue to grow and enrich the community for many years, it would need a strong and sustainable management structure. Today widespread community engagement led by the Committee has delivered a forward-thinking vision and the necessary governance arrangements to assure the Garden’s future.

Youth centre opens for business in Melton 

For more than two decades, an issue consistently identified by local young people and the broader community in the Melton Township was the lack of a purpose-built youth facility in the area. October 2008, saw the realisation of this aspiration with the launch of a new gateway for youth services and a place to highlight the talents and enthusiasm of the young people of Melton.
