HR and Recruitment

The basics of recruitment for NFP community organisations (Word 78 KB) or (PDF 1.65 MB) includes information on: how to develop a good position description, what you need to know about advertising the job, how to conduct an interview, how to go about selecting the right person for the job and how to support the new starter.

Community Sector- Workforce Capability Framework Tool Kit (PDF 611 kb) or (Word 254 kb) and the Capability Cards (PDF 543 kb) or (Word 1503 kb)
The tool kit includes a description of the capabilities and personal attributes and how they might be used in performance appraisal, staff development and recruitment and selection.

This guide examines some of the many ways that not-for-profit community organisations can collaborate to reduce costs and improve efficiencies in their back-of-house services. The booklet offers ten case studies of different approaches employed by community foundations across Victoria and elsewhere to developing a corpus.

During 2009, Victorian community sector organisations dealt with two significant events that placed them under pressures never before experienced – the global financial crisis and the Black Saturday bushfires. There When Needed – includes case studies of the experiences of some of these organisations, the ways they worked alongside the community to cope with these pressures and the lessons they learnt along the way.

In 2010 the OCS funded five scholarships for emerging leaders in the community sector to attend Leadership Victoria's leadership program - Igniting Leadership.  Leadership Victoria developed a series of case studies demonstrating the impact of these scholarships on the individual participants.
