Revitalising our Heritage

Conservation works, often coupled with a new use, can breath life into many heritage buildings no longer required for their original purpose.

Many redundant and underused heritage places can accommodate new uses without losing their heritage values.  A building that is in active use is more likely to be maintained for future generations to enjoy.

These works, sometimes funded by Victoria's Heritage Grants, provide a long term, economically viable future for the building, providing valuable community resources and saving the enormous energy requirements of demolition and the production and  transportation of new materials to build anew.

These case studies highlight successful conservation, refurbishment and adaptive re-use projects.
