My Grants just got easier to use
There have been some changes to My Grants to make it easier for community members to use. These changes relate to My Grants User Names and the process for locking out a user if they have entered an incorrect password too many times.
What’s changed?
1. My Grants user names
My Grants users can now use their email address as their User Name, instead of the system generated combination of random characters which were hard to remember. New users will be directed to use their email address as their User Name, while existing users can choose to use either their system generated User Name or their registered email address.
2. My Grants user lockout process
My Grants user accounts are automatically locked after five unsuccessful login attempts. This is a standard security feature for online accounts which ensures user accounts are not being compromised by unauthorised person(s).
The My Grants user account lockout process has been improved. Users with locked accounts will now be able to unlock their account(s) at any time using the Forgot Password function. This function will automatically regenerate a password and email it to the user which means they don’t need to contact Information Victoria or My Grants support.
In addition, as a prompt for users who have forgotten their passwords, the My Grants login page now also includes the Forgot Password function.
What is the new process?
- After 3 unsuccessful login attempts, users will be instructed by My Grants to regenerate their password using the Forgot Password function.
- After 5 unsuccessful login attempts, user accounts will be locked. An email will be sent to the user’s registered email address notifying them of the account being locked and giving them instructions on how to regenerate their password. This will unlock the account.
When a user’s account is locked, they will be directed in the first instance to the My Grants login page to use the Forgot Password function; entering either their email address or My Grants system generated User Name.
If users still experience issues with unlocking their account or require any other assistance with My Grants they can contact the Grants Information Line on 1300 366 356.
