2008-2011 Inclusion Framework and annual Inclusion plans

To achieve a fairer workplace and community, the Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD) recognises the need to be inclusive in all aspects of its own practices, relationships and interactions. Inclusion means that those in the community and those employed at DPCD feel valued, their differences are respected and their basic needs are met.

The 2008-2011 Inclusion Framework and plans creates the foundation of a positive culture for inclusion and human rights both within DPCD and in interactions with clients, stakeholders and communities. Replacing several initiatives, including cultural and workplace diversity policies, Disability Action Plan, Cultural Diversity Plan, and the Inclusion Framework outlines a unified and practical approach to achieving a more inclusive organisation.

To help realise this potential, the Inclusion Framework is supported by Annual Inclusion Plan. Each Inclusion Plan aims to:

Identify and drive leadership around areas of focus for action each year
Engage all areas of the department to identify and implement actions to promote more inclusive workplaces, program design and program delivery
Promote innovative inclusive ideas or practices that might be adopt by other areas or scaled up across the Department
Take an open approach to testing and refining the Department’s Inclusion planning and achievements with key internal and external stakeholders

Previous Disability Action Plan 2005-2008

The 2005-2008 Disability Action Plan was launched in 2005 for the then Department Victorian Communities (DVC) now Department of Planning and Community Development.
