Indigenous Engagement with the Victorian Government
Community Consultation
The Victorian Government has asked for advice on how the existing engagement arrangements can work better for the Government and the Aboriginal community. This would build on the success of the Local Indigenous Networks but also acknowledge the important role that Aboriginal organisations and their peak bodies play. To explore the community views on engagement a number of consultation workshops were conducted across Victoria in October/November 2011.
The input from communities in the consultations is currently being considered and will feed into the Review of the Victorian Indigenous Affairs Framework (VIAF). An announcement on the VIAF Review is expected in the first half of 2012.
