Wodonga is the twin city to Albury in New South Wales. The cities together form a major growth centre which services a wide rural hinterland in both Victoria and New South Wales. Wodonga's major residential growth complements Albury's retail and commercial focus. The main industry is food manufacturing, and together with retail trade, these two areas are the regions largest employers. Wodonga City Council is an unsubdivided municipality consisting of 7 councillors.Councillors are elected through proportional representation voting.
Since 2008, all Victorian councillors serve a four year term. The next general election is in October 2016.
The council's next independent Electoral Representation Review is scheduled to be conducted prior to the 2016 elections.
