Procurement Roadmaps
16 Jun 2011Roadmaps are a new process for councils to analyse their procurement performance and plan strategic improvements.
With local government in Victoria spending upwards of $3 billion on goods and services each year, procurement goes to the heart of councils’ operations and their ability to provide a range of community services, infrastructure and asset improvements.
Councils now have an opportunity to improve their procurement practices with the help of the Procurement Roadmap process. – a key initiative of the Procurement Excellence Program.
By assessing their current practice against the procurement excellence model, councils can better identify their needs and tailor improvement program, or Roadmap, to assist them transform their procurement practice.
The Roadmap process is a collaborative exercise, with senior managers and staff from within council working closely with experienced procurement consultants and Local Government Victoria.
Across the sector streamlining and collaboration is taking place, resulting in council’s potential to increase savings, boost efficiencies and to realise triple bottom line objectives.
