Environmental Assessment
The Department of Planning and Community Development manages procedures under the Environment Effects Act 1978 for assessment of projects with potentially significant environmental effects.
This role involves processing referrals to the Minister for Planning for a decision on a need for an Environment Effects Statement (EES), as well as administration of the process when the Minister determines that an EES is required under the Environment Effects Act 1978.
The Department is also responsible for managing the assessment and approvals processes for major transport projects under the Major Transport Projects Facilitation Act 2009.
