Yallourn Gas Power Station

Proponent: TRUenergy

TRUenergy proposes to develop a 1000 megawatt gas-fired power station in the Latrobe Valley on the existing Yallourn Power Station site. The power station would use a combined-cycle gas turbine technology to provide base-load power to Victoria’s electricity grid via a connection to the 500 kilovolt Hazelwood-South Morang transmission lines.

The project also includes the development of a new gas pipeline (approximately 6.5 kilometres in length), from the existing Longford to Dandenong Gas Pipeline to the power station site, and a new overhead 500 kilovolt transmission line (approximately 10 kilometres in length) to connect the proposed switchyard to the existing Hazelwood-South Morang transmission lines.
