Boost to regional and rural planning resources
25 Nov 2011The Minister for Planning together with the Minister for Regional and Rural Development have established a three year program – the Rural Council Planning Flying Squad - to assist regional councils in responding and preparing for growth in regional communities.
Assistance will be provided to regional councils on application in relation to major projects and developments, long term land use issues, strategic plans as well as immediate planning support.
Assistance can be provided for:
- Advice, discussions and assessments regarding major project development proposals and applications.
- Providing targeted advice and / or assistance with longer term land use issues and plans for the municipality.
- Wind Farm applications.
- Providing occasional assistance to help process planning permit applications to enable councils to meet 60 day statutory timeframes in peak periods or when council planning officers are not available.
- Preparing draft submissions/presentations to VCAT.
- Preparing draft submissions/presentations to Planning Panels Victoria.
- Helping to process planning scheme amendments and authorisation requests in peak periods or when council planning officers are not available.
