Record planning permit activity in Victoria

Planning and development activity in Victoria continues to rise with a record number of permit decisions valued at $23.2 billion in 2010-11, an increase of 29.4% on the previous year.

Minister for Planning, Matthew Guy, has released the 2010-11 report on planning permit activity in Victoria.

Highlights from this year's report were:

  • an increase in total applications lodged to 57,280, up 2.4%
  • estimated cost of works approved of $23.2 billion, up to 29.4%
  • number of permits issued was 48,970, up 3.5%

This year's Planning Permit Activity in Victoria report is the eighth in the series and provides vital information to inform planning decisions, measure outcomes and improve services. The report is produced from data submitted electronically every month by all Victorian councils.
