About Frankston Activities Area
Frankston's city centre (known as Frankston Activities Area) is a civic, commercial and retail hub, with renowned recreational facilities, including bay beaches, arts and culture venues and nature reserves located close by. It has a Chisholm Institute of TAFE campus and a Monash University campus, Frankston Hospital and Frankston Arts Centre. A range of agencies provide services to the region from Frankston.
Frankston can capitalise on its bay aspect, its position as the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula, and its train, bus and greatly enhanced freeway access. It can attract more employment and housing to consolidate as a vibrant regional centre. The Frankston Activities Area will be a more pleasant, accessible and useable centre for all people.

Renewing Frankston's city centre
Preliminary consultation on the revision of the Structure Plan was held from 25 July to 2 September 2011.
Residents, community groups, businesses and other stakeholder groups were invited to have their say on the future planning of Frankston's city centre and were encouraged to share their ideas through a range of activities including an online forum.
All feedback received during the preliminary consultation, together with research we have undertaken and relevant State Government policies will be considered in the review and update of the Structure Plan.
The findings of the preliminary consultation are now available and provide a good basis for understanding the community and stakeholder views and ideas on the future of Frankston.
Please see the below reports on the Frankston Activities Area Community and Stakeholder Engagement:
An updated Structure Plan and vision will be prepared in draft format to enable further community consultation and feedback. Upon completion, the Structure Plan will be used to guide future land use, development and investment in Frankston for the next 20 years.
It will identify and facilitate changes to land uses, building size and design, and public spaces and inform the location and types of housing, businesses, community facilities, transport and infrastructure that people want to see in Frankston.
Next steps:
Residents, community groups, businesses and other stakeholder groups will have an opportunity to provide comment on a Draft Structure Plan. More information on how you can be involved will be available shortly.
For more information on ways to be involved in the revision of the Structure Plan and development of a new shared vision for Frankston's city centre, please call the Frankston Activities Area contact.
