VicSmart – a simpler permit process
The Planning and Environment Amendment (VicSmart Planning Assessment) Act 2012 amends the Planning and Environment Act 1987 to enable a streamlined assessment process for straightforward planning permit applications to be set up in planning schemes .
Victorian Planning System - Ministerial Advisory Committee
The Minister for Planning has established an Advisory Committee to help overhaul the planning system in Victoria.

- Advertising signs review
Read the final report of the Advisory Committee reviewing advertising sign provisions in planning schemes, December 2007. The recommendations are being implemented in stages.

- Local development contributions system
The Minister for Planning has announced a review of the local development contribution system to develop a new Victorian system that will be simple to use and underpinned by fairness and certainty for both councils and developers.
