2012 Community Sport and Recreation Awards
Community sporting champions recognised
The Sunshine Heights Cricket Club has taken out top honours at Victorian Government’s 2012 Community Sport and Recreation Awards.
Announced at a special ceremony at the MCG, the Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hugh Delahunty said the Club was one of nine outstanding examples of the power of community sport to bring people together.
“I’m delighted to present the Sunshine Heights Cricket Club with the 2012 Minister’s Award for its dedication to breaking down financial, transportation and cultural barriers in order to get local people from all walks of life involved in the game of cricket,” Mr Delahunty said.
The Sunshine Heights Cricket Club received an engraved glass trophy and $5000, and winners of the other eight categories each received a trophy and $3000. Finalists received $1000.
