Under the 2009 Victorian Anti-doping policy, no competitor, coach, official or organisation receiving support from the Victorian Government shall engage in doping practice.

The Victorian Government expects that all sporting associations in Victoria will adopt anti-doping policies and practices which comply with the World Anti-Doping code and satisfy the mandatory requirements of Australia’s national anti-doping policies and guidelines issued by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority.

The Victorian Anti-doping Policy was developed as a requirement of the Sports Anti-doping Act 2005. This legislation supports the World Anti-Doping Code and reinforces the delivery of the national anti-doping programs in Victoria. Under the legislation, the Victorian Government is required to develop and implement a sports anti-doping policy which supports the purpose and intent of the World Anti-Doping Code.

The Victorian Anti-doping Policy applies to all organisations responsible for conducting sporting competitions, sports organisations, their affiliates and members in Victoria, and any person or organisation receiving State support for sporting activities.

The 2009 policy replaced the interim Victorian Anti-doping policy 2006. The 2009 policy will continue to apply to Victorian sport until the policy is either amended or revoked by the Minister.

Cleanedge

Cleanedge provides information to athletes, parents, coaches, sports clubs and teachers on healthy ways to participate and build sports performance.

The website was developed by the Victorian Branch of Sports Medicine Australia, with support from the Victorian Government, to provide anti-doping education related resources and information for community level sport.

The website is being progressively enhanced with additional links and resources on a range of health issues concerning adolescent sports participation.  This includes information and advice on such issues as male body image, overtraining and disordered eating, which may influence, or be indicators of, the future uptake of performance and image enhancing drugs.
