Moe RSL War Memorial

Now available – Up to $10,000 for War Memorial preservation

31 Oct 2011

Victorian veteran groups keen to renew or repair their local war memorials can now apply for funding from the Restoring Community War Memorials Grants Program.

The latest funding round of the popular Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD) Veterans Unit program is now open and RSL’s, local councils, ex-service organisations and community groups are encouraged to apply for grants of up to $10,000.

Eligible projects for funding could include repairs to broken statues, barriers, fences, foundations or other parts of memorials and repairs on honour roles.

For example, last year Orbost RSL received $10,000 for a range of works to the Orbost War Memorial including repairs to the historical clock, the addition of new plaques and installation of new fencing.

Through the program the Victorian Government is continuing its work with local governments, key ex-servicemen organisations and community groups to ensure the sacrifice of our veterans is never forgotten, especially in the lead up to Anzac centenary celebrations.

Applications for the Restoring Community War Memorials Grants close on 31 January 2012.
