World War II advanced into the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Australians saw action in Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Libya, Greece, Crete and our navy served in the Mediterranean. Legends were born here at the Siege of Tobruk and the Battle of Alamein as Australia and its Allies fought the Axis powers for control of North Africa.
