Sponsorship

The Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD) supports programs and events through sponsorship. We see sponsorship as a potential opportunity to increase community awareness of government messages and policies, and to communicate departmental strategies and initiatives.

DPCD receives numerous requests for sponsorship each year. Unfortunately, not all requests can be funded and priority will be given to proposals that meet general sponsorship criteria.

General Sponsorship Criteria

  • The event organiser must be an incorporated company and have values, activities, products and purposes consistent with those of DPCD
  • Sponsorship activities should support the achievement of State Government priorities and/or DPCD goals and objectives and be aligned with key themes and priorities.
  • The event must provide good promotional and media opportunities for the department
  • The event must be targeted to one or more of the department’s key audiences
  • Public liability insurance, and any other insurance category appropriate to the activities of the proposed project, must be confirmed (with the provision of a certificate of currency from your insurer) prior to the completion of a Sponsorship Agreement

How to apply for sponsorship

All requests for DPCD sponsorship must be submitted in writing at least eight weeks before the event for which sponsorship is sought. Any questions about a sponsorship proposal and all submissions must be emailed to sponsorship@dpcd.vic.gov.au

A formal submission should contain the following information:
  • Name and contact details of the requestor, background information of the organisation, including a brief history, its purpose, objectives and activities
  • Details of the event for which sponsorship is sought, including date, venue, expected attendance, and profile of attendees, and a breakdown of how any monetary contribution will be spent. Any request for sponsorship of an award will only be considered if DPCD is involved in the preparation of the selection criteria for the award, is represented on the panel that selects the winner and can nominate someone from DPCD to make the presentation
  • The DPCD Business Unit from which the sponsorship is sought, and a statement of the goals and objectives, key themes, priorities and target audiences this sponsorship will support
  • A list of the promotional and other benefits that sponsorship of the event will bring to DPCD

Supporting documents may be attached.

Web Site Updates

DPCD's websites are progressively being updated to reflect the changes following the establishment of the department. This means you will continue to see some references to the Department for Victorian Communities (DVC) as changes are being made.
