Digital Storytelling Project

The Digital Storytelling Project aims to record the wartime experiences of Victorian veterans and civilians. Up to 200 stories will be collected over the next three years for use as a resource for teaching history in Victorian secondary schools. The project is being run in partnership with the Australian Centre for Moving Images and the Shrine of Remembrance.

To date 30 veterans have participated in the project, with two storytelling workshops held in Bendigo and Swan Hill in October and November 2009.

The Digital Storytelling Project is part of the Victorian Government’s $1.4 million Preserving Veterans Heritage initiative aimed at identifying and preserving Victoria’s veteran-related heritage for future generations.

Over the coming months we’ll be updating this web page so that you can see just some of the wealth of stories we are honoured to collect. For a taste of what’s being collected, view the World War II stories of Peter Isaacson and Joan Johnstone.
